1. What is ceramic paint protection?
A ceramic coating is a highly-durable paint protection product that is applied to the exterior of the car. It is sprayed onto the car’s paint once the vehicle has been cleaned and all contaminants removed. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) is the chemical compound of the product. It is most often used to protect paint, glass, and wheels, depending on the type of coating used.
2. What are the benefits of a ceramic coating in London?
The coating provides a sleek exterior as well as a protective barrier. It protects the vehicle from potential scratches, scuffs, chemical contaminants, and fading. The resale value of the vehicle will be protected too as when it’s sold, the paintwork will be pristine.
3. How should I care for/maintain my ceramic coating?
Over time the glossy shine of the coating may fade and weaken if it is not correctly maintained. Most ceramic paint protection products recommend washing and drying the vehicle every two weeks. The hydrophobic surface makes it easy to clean. You can also opt for maintenance boosters every year or so. This is a hyper-concentrated version of the ceramic coating used to fill in any “weak spots” in your coating. For more informations, please see our aftercare instructions
4. Are all ceramic coating products the same?
The simple answer is no. While all are based on the same concept and compound, the products can vary according to the amount of SiO2 present. A product with 5% SiO2 will usually be a maintenance booster spray, while first applications can have as much as 70% SiO2. The more SiO2 present, the more durable and long lasting the product will be.
5. Can ceramic paint protection coatings be removed?
It’s best to maintain your ceramic coating to ensure its lifespan, but it can be removed by means of abrasion. This is usually done with machine polishing, a cut and polish, or cutting compounds.
